Chandelier Lamp!

I should figure out a better name for this concept, but this is my first go at a gravity defying chandelier lamp. Eventually, I'd like to make one out of a bigger chandelier to sit on the floor.

doorstop in progress

I've been meaning to use my remaining clay to make a strange character to endure the trials of their mythical world to stop a human door. After a few failed attempts, this stoic owl man emerged. After he dries out I'll fire him up and paint him all nice.

fender!

I finally decided to do something about my displeasure with having a soggy bottom after riding in the rain. I found my old bike rack that had been injured in an accident, fixed it up, and built this fender out of scrap wood to snap into the rack when the weather's not looking too friendly. Oh, and I added a racing stripe.

Working on the Jacks!

Here are some process pics from my Jacks mural, the last of my Indianapolis projects, which became a mixed media endeavor.

Because of the deteriorating condition of the wall, I had the jacks routed out of an aluminum coated plastic, which i painted with a high gloss sign paint, making the jacks stand out more and ensuring their longevity as the wall continues to deteriorate.

The shadows and the ball were painted directly on the wall to provide a satin contrast to the jacks.

Indy mural #2

My second mural in Indianapolis was of the paint-by-number variety. A dozen or so volunteers spent a morning painting in my design on this retaining wall at a local elementary school. And it only took one day to straighten out all their lines! In all honesty though, they did a terrific job.

The mural's design, to some extent, was at the mercy of the process and the location. Simply put, it's a little cheesier than I usually shoot for. Nonetheless, the powers that be all seemed thrilled with the results, titled 'Paper Seasons'.

More progress!

Here are some more pics of the progress (most recent one at the bottom). I kind of lost count of the days. Apparently I can't count to 12. Just some detail work to do then on to the next one.

art moves billboard competition proposal

Check out this awesome billboard competition in Torun Poland. This year's slogan is "Reality or fiction? Let's pretend it's not there." Here's my proposal (with a little help from Tom Gonzalez).

She's finally done! Now I just need to find a good home for it. Let me know if you have any good ideas!

steel town painting

First off, sorry I've been MIA for so long. I'm back in action with some exciting projects this summer, but first I need to update the old blog with a few things.

Here's a gritty painting with a steel frame that I recently made for my friend Jeremy.
